The Hudson Fairfax Group team has decades of experience in the U.S. defense, homeland security and space sectors spanning investing, financing, business development, sales, mergers &a4mp; acquisitions, trade and public policy. The team is based in New York with satellite offices in Washington DC, London and New Delhi.

Our team members have worked in a variety of large institutions either in the defense sector or covering it, complementing our focus in investing in, growing and selling SMEs - the core of our investment strategy.


Manish Thakur, Managing Partner & Founder
Manish has lived and worked in New York, London and Hong Kong for nearly 20 years as an investment banker, chief financial officer and principal investor. Prior to founding HFG, he has worked at such firms as Merrill Lynch, SG Cowen and HSBC where his responsibilities included managing initial public offerings, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and strategic investments. During his time as an investment banker, Manish has covered such industries as communications, defense, satellites and technology. Away from Wall Street, Manish has also worked in the aerospace & communications sector, having served as CFO of Ellipso, a Washington-based satellite venture backed by the Boeing Company. During his various assignments, Manish has had extensive experience both in the United States and globally, having worked with clients in such countries as India, Indonesia, Mexico, Thailand and Russia. Manish began his career in 1989 as an International Officer at Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation’s Trade Finance division in Hong Kong.

Outside of the investment industry, Manish serves as National Security Coordinator for USINPAC, a Washington-based political action committee. He is a writer on current affairs, and is a Partner in an artist management, development and publishing company.

Manish holds a B.Sc. (Honors) in Economics from the University of London and an MBA in Finance from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.


Rick Sanford
Rick is a global business leader with over 25 years of market creation, business development and sales experience distinguished by double-‐digit annual revenue growth for multinational companies, with a particular focus on space and defense. He is an acknowledged thought leader with program, project and international team leadership experience in the U.S., Germany, France, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, and Japan. Rick is an expert at aligning technologies and process with business and mission objectives to provide maximum return on investment. In addition to his role with Hudson Fairfax Group, Rick is also the President of SpaceGroundAmalgam, LLC a management and space systems consulting firm specializing in strategy & new market development, business & technology architectures, change management and leadership development.

Rick started his career in the United States Air Force, studied Computer Information Systems at Strayer College and most recently completed over 12 years with Cisco Systems, Inc. where he was responsible for building the U.S. National Security business and founding the company's Space business as part of the Global Government Solutions Group. He is a frequent guest lecturer, keynote speaker, conference moderator and panelist and has been quoted in numerous articles in both Trade and National press. Rick also serves on the Board of the International Space University in Strasbourg France.


Katerina Balodimas
Katerina Balodimas has invested in public and private companies for over 10 years, covering such sectors as defense, energy, retail, media, branding, production, wellness and real estate. In addition to her role at Hudson Fairfax Group, Katerina represents a family office, where she has gained a reputation as a value-added investor typically taking an activist, management or board role.

Prior to her role on the buy-side, Katerina worked in the capital markets division of Bank Of America, Athens selling fixed income and fx to instituitional investors. Katerina is a graduate of Williams College.


Manohar Thyagaraj
Manohar Thyagaraj is President of Paragon International and a Strategic Affairs Advisor to the US-India Political Committee (USINPAC). He represents a major U.S. defense company in their business development activity for India and represents several Indian defense and security companies on their U.S. business development.

Manohar writes an influential blog on U.S.-India defense and security issues which is distributed to about 500 members of both national security and defense communities and is a regular commentator on U.S.-India strategic issues, being published in journals like ORBIS, the USAF Air and Space Power Journal and in Indian journals like Hard News and Pragati: the Indian National Interest. He is also frequently quoted in newspapers like the Times of India and the Business Standard on US defense relations with India. Prior to forming Paragon International, he was a Director at the Alliance for U.S.-India Business (AUSIB) In this role, he supported government relations operations for U.S. companies in India and Indian companies looking for advice on U.S. market. The key sectors focused on were: renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, IT. He was instrumental in setting up the first-ever U.S.-India renewable energy summit to be held on Capitol Hill in conjunction with the Congressional Task Force on U.S.-India Trade in October 2007.

Manohar has a Masters in International Relations from Marquette University, where he studied with Dr. Raju Thomas, a noted scholar of South Asian security and nuclear issues. He is also a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies.


Karim Rozwadowski, CAIA
Karim brings experience and knowledge on event-driven strategies including private investments in public equity, distressed debt and activist investing. Prior to joining Hudson Fairfax Group, he was a founding partner of KJK Climate Investments, LLC, a boutique investment management firm focusing on cleantech investments.

Prior to KJK Climate, he was the Senior Analyst at a multi-strategy hedge fund with $750 million under management. Mr. Rozwadowski led the direct investment strategy deal team and handled a diverse portfolio of debt and equity investments in publicly traded companies. He was responsible for managing a team of analysts which presided over 120+ portfolio companies in sectors such as clean-tech, energy, industrials, utilities, healthcare, biotechnology, and consumer discretionary.

Karim is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst. He is the co-author of “Buyout Competition: The emergence of hedge funds in a world of private equity,” which was published in the Winter 2005 issue of The Journal of Private Equity.
